Michael I. Montgomery, 81, of Altoona, died Tuesday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Irvin W. and Eva A. (Vilis) Montgomery.
He married Carol J. Gailey on July 14, 1967, in Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; two daughters, Michele R. Montgomery (Darren) of Altoona and Kelly J. Stahl (Dennis) of Surf City, N.C.; four grandchildren, Bradley, Travis, Jessie and Joshua; three great-grandchildren: Blake, Chloe and Mia; a brother, George Montgomery (Gail) of Greenwood; and numerous extended family members.
Mr. Montgomery was a member of East End United Methodist Church, Altoona.
He was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-65, where he obtained the rank of Lance Corporal.
Michael retired as head of maintenance for Hollidaysburg Manor Apartments following 25 years’ service.
He loved to spend time at the family summer camp at Newton-Hamilton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at the Concordia Society, 820 Second Ave., Altoona.
Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
