Norma Jean (Burket) Dodson Caple

May 7, 1934 – Nov. 7, 2023

Norma Jean (Burket) Dodson Caple, 89, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday evening. She was born in Claysburg, daughter of the late Watson and Eleanor (Zembower) Burket.

She was twice married: first to John M. “Pappy” Dodson. John and her second husband both preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Dodson in Ohio and Curt Dodson and wife, Tracey, of Martinsburg, with whom she resided; a grandson, Matthew Dodson in Maryland; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joshua Dodson and Kristen Thomas; and a sister, M. Kay Snyder.

Norma Jean was of the Brethren faith.

She had been employed at Sylvania-Altoona for several years.

Norma Jean enjoyed bowling and had bowled in a senior league at Holiday Bowl.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate and loving care that was provided.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or services. Inurnment will be made at Bedford County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norma Jean’s memory may be given to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 93, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
