Kenneth N. ‘Weo’ Bobby

July 24, 1953 – Nov. 2, 2023

Kenneth N. "Weo" Bobby, 70, Patton, passed away Friday at home. He was born in Spangler, the son of Nicholas and Helen (Karanik) Bobby.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his brother, James "Metro" Bobby; and many cousins.

Ken was a 1971 graduate of Cambria Heights High School, Patton.

He began working at the local A & P in Patton when he was in high school. He worked on weekends and during the summer when school was out. During his time there, he was given the nickname "Weo." People started calling him that all the time from advertising the store did promoting low prices. After graduation, he continued working there until the store closed. He went on to work at other grocery stores, Riverside and Giant Eagle, as assistant manager. He then decided to become a route salesman for the potato chip industry. He started selling Middleswarth Potato Chips and other snacks for Greg Gallagher. Later, he moved on to work for Herr's Potato Chips and then for UTZ Potato Chip Co., selling their products to grocery stores, bars, clubs, etc.

Ken retired from UTZ, but he got bored in retirement, so he went to work for Tri County Transportation, picking up school children and taking them to and from school. When he finished his van run, he went to work part time second shift for Cambria Heights Middle School as a custodian. He eventually had to retire due to medical issues.

He was a member of the Patton Eagles FOE 1244, Patton Moose Lodge 488, a regular member of the Patton Slovak Club, social member of the Patton SOI and Patton American Legion.

Ken enjoyed shooting pool in leagues and playing cards when he had time. He had long hours at his jobs, and was a very hard worker. Ken was well liked and had many friends. He will be very sadly missed.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton.

Panachida will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at the funeral home, with Father Roman Andriitso. Interment at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Patton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Patton.
