Jordan Lee “Jordy” Claar, 34, of Newry, unexpectedly passed away Sunday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. He was born in Altoona, the son of Michele E. Wendt-Claar.
Surviving are his mother, whom he called “Honey Mom”; uncles, Mark Wendt and Matthew Wendt (Aunt Dawn); cousins: Ryan, Chrystal, Theodore “TJ,” Lyndsay, Christian and Remmick, and their children; and his grandmother, Judith Wendt.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Wendt; an uncle, Mike Wendt; and a cousin, Zachary Wendt.
Jordy attended Hollidaysburg High School – Life Skills Class. He was a former member of ARC of Blair County – Becky Sheetz Center and a past member of the Special Olympics, where he participated on the swim team. Jordy also took part in the Rose Hill Stables and the Dreams Go On riding programs.
He enjoyed hiking and loved all the many adventures with his mother, including going to concerts, doing puzzles, helping out at the family floral shop and watching Steelers games at the Wonder Bar on “Potluck Sundays.” Jordy loved music and watching Channel 10 news. He enjoyed anything that had wheels, from trucks and buses to trains and motorcycles.
The family would like to thank all his special caregivers.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1309 Frankstown Road, Hollidaysburg. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 8 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Roy A. Steward.
