Jeannine Y. Yahner, 94, formerly of Patton, left us to be with the Lord at Highland View Healthcare, Brockway, on Tuesday.

She was born in Patton, daughter of the late John and Mary (Fox) Zern.

On Sept. 6, 1947, Jeannine married Albert J. Yahner. Together, they ran Yahner’s TV Sales and Service. Albert passed away in 1965.

Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Debera (Frank) Damratoski of Houston, Texas; sons, Robert of New York City, Jody (Patty) of York, Edward (Mary Beth) of Brockway and Brian Yahner of

Conyngham; her grandchildren: David (Tina) Damratoski, Dana (Matthew) Barger, Tammy (David) Snyder, Tracy Yahner, Janelle Yahner, Joshua (Courtney) Yahner, Joel (Katiana), Gavin, Pierce and Reese Yahner and Kaleb Yahner. Jeannine also had six great-grandchildren who warmed her heart: Luke and Kate Damratoski, Kailey and Zachary Barger and Lydia and Daphne Yahner.

She was the last member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her sisters: Alberta Warner, Mildred Petre, Mae Eberhardt, Rose Rhody, Louise Toner and Bernice Brehm; and brothers: Ed, Fred, Henry, James and John “Dugan” Zern. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Yahner; and a daughter, Michelle Litzinger.

Jeannine put herself through Saint Francis College after Albert’s death and received her degree in library science.

She was first employed by the Patton Public Library then worked for Cambria Heights School District as a librarian’s aide. In her later years, she served the district as a special education aide. She retired after 25 years of service. She also received her Certified Nursing Assistant’s degree and took care of the elderly in the evenings and weekends.

She was an active member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Patton, where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, catechist, choir member and funeral luncheon committee member. She was a member of the Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Cresson Play House and Music Club. Jeannine was a founding member of the Patton Pavers and Patton Community Garden. She enjoyed Broadway musicals, traveling and taking care of her family.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., 211 S. Main St., DuBois. A scriptural wake service will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. by Monsignor Charles Kaza.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Patton, Father Ananias, O.S.B., celebrant.

Interment will be at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Patton.
