Audrey Jean Laird, 93, a resident of Epworth Manor for the past 11 years, died at the Manor (Cedarwood) on Friday. She was born in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Victor and Esther (Shildt) Getz.
She was twice married: first to Charles "Pete" Beatty, and then on Sept. 24, 1977, to Harold N. "Sam" Laird, who died Dec. 17, 1989.
Surviving are daughters, Debra (Randy) Tuskovich and Barbara (Mike) Desch; four grandsons and a granddaughter; four great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; and several special nieces and nephews.
Audrey was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1948 and had worked at Big Yank Corp. for 32 years.
She always enjoyed bingo, camping and playing cards. Audrey had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. She loved her grandchildren and visiting family members in Pittsburgh.
The family wishes a special thank you to the fourth-floor nurses at Epworth for their loving care of Jean over the years.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Bald Eagle Methodist Church, with Pastor Preston Hutchins officiating.
Arrangements are by Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
