Marjorie Anne Walker, 79, passed away Sept. 19, 2023, at Cedarwood Healthcare, Tyrone, after an extended illness. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of the late Meryn D. Walker and Constance Eckert Walker.
Marge grew up and lived most of her life in Tyrone. She graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1962, and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Shippensburg State College (now University) in 1966. She later earned a master's degree in education at Penn State in 1970. Marge was a teacher in Tyrone elementary schools for 38 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a favorite aunt, Marjorie Eckert Barr.
Surviving are sisters, Barbara (Ronald) Shunk of Gettysburg and Susan (Preston) Rice of Tyrone; and family friend, Melissa (William) Miller of Tyrone. Marge was close with nieces, Reagan Shunk (William) Rhoades of McSherrystown and Stephanie (Bohb) Rice-Striker; and nephew, Jared Rice of Tyrone. She also had a special bond with great-nieces and nephews: Anais Biesecker of Barrow, Alaska, Caleb Biesecker and Samuel Biesecker of McSherrystown and Ebonee Rice-Nguyen of Tyrone (Pittsburgh).
Arrangements are by Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. There will be no visitation or viewing. A memorial will be held at a later date.
