Arthur "Art" C. Benner, 97, of Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, passed peacefully on Saturday. He was born in Altoona, son of Chester T. and Ethel L. (Fink) Benner.
Art is survived by his grandson, Troy (Caitlyn Luke) Turiano; and son-in-law, Mike (Bonnie Blair) Turiano.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Debbie Turiano; companion, Ruth Williams; and eight siblings.
Art served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a ball turret gunner. After his service to our country, he spent his career as a conductor/brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail.
He enjoyed bowling, ballroom dancing, especially the Jitterbug, politics and poker. Art was a scratch golfer, and a great day to him was on the golf course with his golfing buddies. He especially loved spending time with his grandson and best friend, Troy.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona.
Interment with military honors will take place at Alto-Reste Park at a later date.
