James R. ‘Jim’ DeArment

James R. “Jim” DeArment, 54, of Manchester, formerly of Altoona, passed away Friday at Hershey Medical Center. He was born in Altoona, the son of Robert and Helen (Karle) DeArment.

On Oct. 5, 1995, he married Lisa (Johnson) of Bradford, with whom he shared 27 wonderful years of marriage.

Jim was a dedicated and talented computer programmer, having worked in the field for more than 30 years. He spent 14 years of his career at Glatfelter Insurance Group.

Beyond his professional life, Jim cherished his role as a husband and father. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him in their hearts. Surviving are his beloved wife, Lisa; and their four children: Jonathan, Anna, Lydia and Lauren.

Jim’s devotion to his family was unwavering. He found great joy in spending quality time with them. Whether he was capturing precious moments through his photography, supporting his children’s activities, or being an active participant in the Boy Scouts group, Jim prioritized creating lasting memories with his loved ones.

In addition to his immediate family, Jim is survived by his mother, Helen DeArment, who provided him with endless love and support throughout his life. He also leaves behind seven beloved siblings: Linda Kennedy (Bill), Debbie

Geesey (Barry), Sue DeArment, Bobbie Bollinger (Tom), Donna Wicks (Bruce), Brenda Quirin and Polly Hester. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews; and his sweet pup, Millie, who brought him great comfort and companionship.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert DeArment, in 2014.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

An additional visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park.
