Roberta M. ‘Bertie’ Heuston

Roberta M. “Bertie” Heuston, 89, of Roaring Spring, died Saturday at Blue Bell Place in Blue Bell, Pa., after a brief illness. She was born at home on the Smith farm, daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Pollard) Smith.

She married Richard C. “Dick” Heuston on April 28, 1956, in Albright Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are two children, Nancy A. Ceranic and her husband, George, of Ambler; and Ryan F. Heuston and his wife, Alice, of Roaring Spring; a daughter-in-law, Joy Heuston, of Roaring Spring; six grandchildren: John Ceranic and his wife, Latia; Mike Ceranic; Elizabeth Herbaugh and her husband, Adam; Wesley Heuston and his wife, Katelyn; Matthew Heuston; and Sean Heuston; three great-grandchildren: Houston and Luke Herbaugh and Colt Heuston; a brother, Tommy Smith, and his wife, Sandy; four sisters-in-law: Elsie Smith, Mary Smith, Carol Smith and Bets Smith; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Burget.

She was preceded in death by a son, Rick Heuston; seven brothers: Carl, Clair, Dean, Pete, Benny, Wick and Gary; and five sisters: Ruth Miller, Darlene Bowers, Betty Olivieri, Mary Kirkham and Ramona Burget.

Roberta was a lifelong member of Albright Church of the Brethren.

She was a 1953 graduate of Morrison Cove High School and retired from Roaring Spring Blank Book Co. with more than 30 years of service.

She enjoyed gardening, boating, going to the beach, sewing and camping. As a young girl, she was a member of 4H and Baby Beef Club. She loved her horses, raising her cow and helping on the farm.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023, at Albright Church of the Brethren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the church with Pastor Mark Lingenfelter. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.

Contributions in Roberta’s memory may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
