Marty Burchner, 57, of Van Ormer, died unexpectedly Thursday at his residence from an apparent heart attack. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Gary M. and Marcelle (Cafasso) Burchner. On June 25, 2022, in East Freedom, he married Judith K. Green, who survives along with children: Jessica, Chance, Jason, Josh, Michael, Brian and Karmaa; a granddaughter; many stepgrandchildren; siblings: Maria, Jimmy, Edie and Andy; his stepmother, Jean Smay; and his aunt, Louise Walters, who raised him from the age of 12. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother, Mary Cafasso.
Marty was a 1983 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and was employed at New Enterprise, Tyrone. He was an avid gun and old car enthusiast.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Pinecroft Fire Hall. A luncheon will be served immediately following.
