Lewis F. Laine, 72, Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Altoona, passed away at his residence on Feb. 10, 2023.
He was born in Altoona, son of Paul M. Laine and Mary (Coleman) Laine. On June 19, 1993, Lewis married Nicolin (Campbell) Laine, who survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ray (Elva) Blossom of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Chester (Missy) Laine of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister Lois Lynn, (Steve) of State College; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was a 1968 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1970 graduate of Penn State University, Altoona campus, with an associate degree in drafting and design. He worked as an environmental engineer in water and waste management for 40 years. His work took him to Champaign Urbana, Ill., New York City, San Francisco, Calif., Albuquerque, N.M., and Lake Worth, Fla. The majority of his career was spent with the firm Camp, Dresser and McKee.
Lewis loved traveling, playing the piano and cars.
A memorial service was held on March 4, 2023, at Kingdom Hall, Lake Worth, Fla. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Antis Cemetery near Salem Lutheran Church, Pinecroft.
