Peter Michael Rossi

Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. (Rafacz), whom he married on May 25, 1974, in Huntingdon; son, Jacob J. Rossi, at home; and brother, Anthony L. Rossi of Dubois.

Peter was a 1966 graduate of Dubois Central Catholic High School. He then attended Penn State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1970 and his master’s degree in international politics in 1973.

Peter worked for Newborn Enterprises as a book buyer and bookstore supervisor from 1973-96, then retired as the history sales manager after 12 years of service for Stackpole Books in Mechanicsburg. Following retirement, he was an emergency substitute teacher for 10 years at the Intermediate Unit 8 in Altoona.

He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament where he served as an usher, Foreign Policy Association in Harrisburg and the American Philatelic Society.

Peter enjoyed reading, politics and stamp collecting.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, with Monsignor Stanley B. Carson as celebrant. Committal at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
