Foster Lee Dickson Jr., 75, of Tyrone, passed away on Friday. He was born in Philipsburg, the son of the late Foster Sr. and Malinda (Shaw) Dickson. On June 24, 1993, in Winchester, Va., he married Shawnee Barto, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Randy (Brenda) Dickson of Mill Hall and John (Janel) Dickson of Tyrone; three grandchildren: Corey and Steven "Tyler" Barnhart and Alexis Dickson; four great-grandchildren: Mayson, Zoey, Charlie and McKenna; two sisters, Janet (David) Summers and Jeanette Ramsey; and five brothers: Francis (Karen), Raymond "Buck" (Jean), Ralph (Michele), Victor (Rose) and Jeff (Liz) Dickson.
Foster attended Tyrone High School and was of the Protestant faith. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent a lot of time at his hunting camp in Sinnemahoning. He was also a member of the Tyrone Sportsmens Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a man with a great sense of humor who loved to make people laugh and smile.
A funeral service with military honors for Foster Lee Dickson Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 23, 2022, at Feller Memorial Home, with the Reverends Ken Patterson and Todd Christine officiating. Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Voluntary Service Program, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Second Floor, Altoona, PA 16602.
