Dona K. Kensinger, 95, Martinsburg, died Saturday evening at her residence.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Clare S. and Olive (Myers) Kauffman. On Dec. 23, 1950, she married George E. Kensinger at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Roaring Spring. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2017, after 68 years of marriage.
Surviving are a son, George K. Kensinger (April) of Roaring Spring; a daughter, Deidre K. Robison of Manistee, Mich.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Dona retired after 28 years as a business teacher in the Spring Cove School District. She was a member of the Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren where she served on many committees and commissions, sang in the church choir, and was a church deacon, organist and a Sunday school teacher. She was also involved in the Church of the Brethren Education Program and served as moderator of the Middle PA District Church of the Brethren.
She was very active in her community and was a member of the Martinsburg Booster Association, Martinsburg Community Library Board of Trustees, Nason Hospital Board of Directors, Nason Foundation, Nason Hospital Home Nursing Advisory Board, The Village at Morrisons Cove Board of Directors and The Village at Morrisons Cove Auxiliary. She also worked as a notary.
A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg with a celebration of life to be held at the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg at a future date to be determined.
Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in memory of Dona be given to Martinsburg Community Library, 201 S. Walnut St., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or to the Good Samaritan Fund at The Village at Morrisons Cove, 429 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all those persons who assisted Dona during the last years of her life including, but not limited to, the care persons from Cove Home Services and from VIP Hospice in Home Services.
