Mason T. Stevens

March 13, 1990 – Aug. 18, 2022

Stevens

Mason T. Stevens, 32, of Altoona, died unexpectedly Thursday surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, the son of Mitch and Dawn (Steele) Stevens.

He attended Altoona Area High School and graduated in 2008, where he was a member of the baseball team.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served two tours of duty aboard the USS John C. Stennis from 2011-15.

Mason was a loving father, son, brother, nephew and cousin. His 6-year-old son, Paxon, was his pride and joy. He found his happiness spending time with his son. He excelled as a father and loved Paxon with everything inside him.

To know Mason was to love him. He was wild and lovable as a child and grew up to be a soft-spoken man, full of kindness. He would do anything for his family and the people he loved. At just 32 years old, he had a heart that held more emotion than most people hold in a lifetime. His death leaves a major void in the lives of all who love him.

Mason is survived by his son, Paxon Stevens (mother, Stephanie Sierra); parents, Mitch and Dawn of Altoona; his sister and best friend, Ashley Adams (Justin) of Altoona; a nephew, Elijah Adams; and niece, Brielle Adams, both of Altoona; an uncle, Dr. Kirth Steele (Karen); two aunts, Kim Koehle (Jerry) and Kathy Kowalski; cousins: Nicole Stotler (Isaiah and London), Natasha Gainous (Mark, Abram and Annie Grove), Buddy Stotler (Megan, Laila and Oliver Paul), Sydney Koehle, Mallory Wood (Padric, Lucy and Margot), Hannah Pine (Bucky, Ellie) and Taylor Steele.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Nancy Stevens; his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Don Steele; and great-grandmother, Dorothy Grove.

A celebration of Mason’s life will be planned at the family’s discretion.

Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
