Mary Concetta “Connie” Himes, 81, Antis Township, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday surrounded by her loving family.
Connie was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Daniel and Pearl (Ciambotti) Riccio. On
Aug. 22, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard E. “Dick” Himes.
Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years; her four children: Debbie Cherry, Rick (Dari) Himes, Marianne (Jeff) Hanna and Dan (Crystal) Himes; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “GG”; and siblings: Rose Ann Himes, Susan Rehm, Dolores Simington and Daniel Riccio.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Richard; and a brother, Matthew Riccio.
She was a 1959 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School.
Following a successful career in real estate, she retired from Century 21 in 2019. Active in several organizations and activities, Connie previously served as Queen as a member of Daughters of the Nile. She was a lifelong member of her home parish, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she enjoyed volunteering her time and talents.
Connie enjoyed traveling, camping and baking. Most of all, her greatest passion was spending time with her husband, family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased and Daughters of the Nile service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Juniata. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Connie’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
