Thomas Charles McGee, 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, surrounded by his family, at West Shore Hospital. Born in Altoona, Tom was the son of the late Charles and Mary Katherine “Katie” McGee.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice D. (Koelle) McGee; a brother, W. Robert Stamm; and his sister, Charlene Prieve.

Surviving are his wife, Dotti A. Plever McGee; his three children: Amy Calderone (Douglas) of Camp Hill, Matthew McGee (Kristin) of West Chester and Michael McGee of Harrisburg; three stepchildren: Kristen Morrow of New Cumberland, Matthew Plever (Alicia) of Etters and Andrew Plever (Trish) of Nashville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University and a master’s degree from Penn State University. Tom retired from the West Shore School District, having served as a teacher and an administrator.

He was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown and currently was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg. He was also a member of the Lower Allen VFW, and the Chester County Cabin. Tom was a skilled woodworker and an avid sports fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 310 Hertzler Road, Mechanicsburg, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon. Mass will be live streamed and can be viewed at https://www.steas.net/specialevents. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
