Margaret A. Barry, 84, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at the Embassy of Woodland Park in Orbisonia. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Nazareno and Theresa (Labriola) Ciavarella, along with seven sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George; a daughter, Teresa (Wayne) Kramer, of Hanover; and a son, James (Karen) Barry, of Altoona. She is fondly in the hearts of her six grandchildren: Wayne Kramer III, Dena Barry, Winzor Kramer, James Barry Jr., Wyatt Kramer and Wade Kramer; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Alana and Emma Barry.
Margaret married George D. Barry in 1966 in Altoona. A devoted wife, she accompanied him during his 26 year military service. After traveling to different military bases for many years, they decided to retire in Altoona in 1982.
After arriving home in Altoona, she had a career at K-Mart until her retirement.
Following her retirement, she loved to spend her time going to local churches to play bingo. She enjoyed her girls' trips to the casino and shopping. She looked forward to spending her time with her daughter and son's families.
Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 4, 2022, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
