Allen Kirkpatrick, 84, Altoona, passed away Friday afternoon at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Roy and Elsie (Scherwinski) Kirkpatrick.
Allen was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany from 1956-59. He was a 1963 graduate of Penn State University, where he majored in English literature. He retired in 1989 as a film editor and independent filmmaker in New York City. He was the recipient of two Emmy Awards for "The Big Blue Marble," an international children's program.
He enjoyed painting, literature, reading and poetry.
Friends will be received from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. in the Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
