Mary Ann (Tatarko) Adomnik, 64, of Altoona, formerly of Twin Rocks, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Losiewicz; father, George Tatarko Sr.; and brothers, George "Taddy" Tatarko III; and Dr. Michael Tatarko Sr.
Surviving is her loving and devoted husband of six years, Rick Adomnik; children: Christopher (Colleen) Losiewicz, David Losiewicz and Amanda (Rory) Szwed; grandchildren: Olivia, Kevin and Aubrey; stepchildren: Jennifer (John) Barefoot and son, Dylan, and Richard (Christine) Adomnik. Mary Ann is also survived by her mother, Irene Tatarko; siblings: Therese (Bill) Stawarz, Timothy (Nadine) Tatarko and Marina (Chris) Zindash; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
One of Mary Ann's greatest gifts was her children, but her grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. They loved spending time with "Mimi." She spoiled them.
Mary Ann was one of the original members of the Joyful Majority Folk Group at the former St. Charles Catholic Church, Twin Rocks. Most recently, she played guitar with her late brother, Mike, with the St. Mary's Folk Choir. Singing with members of the group gave her great pleasure and something we all miss.
One of her proudest achievements was becoming a nurse practitioner. She used her gift and healing ability to help those in pain. Most recently, those talents were used to help veterans at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona.
Her yearly excursions with her college friends was something she looked forward to every year. An avid Steelers and Penguins fan, she attended Steelers camp every year to get autographs from players with her son and any family member who wanted to go.
She was a skilled quilter, giving quilts as gifts to family, friends and donating them to worthwhile causes. She was a passionate flower gardener and loved to pick flowers with her grandchildren.
Mary Ann touched many lives in ways we don't know and the ones we do know are too many to name. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Heaven now has a new angel for its choir.
