Shane M. Kennedy

May 6, 1981 – April 12, 2021

Shane M. Kennedy, 39, of Roaring Spring, passed away Monday. He was born in Altoona, son of Michael Kennedy and Sherri (Benton) Snyder.

Surviving are his father, of Roaring Spring; his mother and her husband, Wade, of Hollidaysburg; a sister, Brandey Kennedy and fiance, Chris Pavlick, of Salix; three children: Kalysta, Isabella and Barrett Kennedy; two nieces, Claire Kennedy and Kathryn Brendel; his grandparents, James W. and Marlene Kennedy; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Sherwood Benton; and beloved grandmother, Dorothy Benton.

Shane was a 2000 graduate of Central High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball and volleyball. He attended South Hills Business School, where he received an associate’s degree in networking and programming.

Shane was a member of Garver YMCA, Roaring Spring. He coached basketball at Spring Cove, as well as elementary girls’ softball and basketball. He was ranked No. 60 in PlayStation World Gaming.

Shane loved to fish, being outdoors and treasured the time he spent with his children.

He is now at peace, in Heaven, with no pain celebrating with his Grandma Benton.

Shane will be greatly missed by his loving parents, sister, children, nieces, family and friends.

Family and friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Monday April 19, 2021, at the Smith Corner Independent Mennonite Church, 1955 Johnstown Road, East Freedom, PA 16637, with Pastor David McClanahan officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Central PA Community Foundation, 1330 11th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601, Shane M. Kennedy Memorial to be used for a basketball scholarship at Central High School or Heaven Scent Dog Search and Rescue, c/o Dianne and Mike Thees, 2206 Adams Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
