William J. Pupo

William J. Pupo, 90, Cresson died Wednesday at Homewood at Martinsburg.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Samuel and Julia (Leonetti) Pupo.

Surviving are five children: James (Connie), Judy (Jim) Laverick, Nancy (Jeff) Vaughn, Susan (Michael) Perehinec and Mary Beth Pupo; nine grandchildren: Becky (Paul) Roberts, Jason Pupo, Christopher (Claire) Petney, Jennifer Bagdon, Melissa (Andrew) Lafferty, Jeffery (Stephanie) Vaughn, Michael (Karli) Buday, Nicholas (Allison) Perehinec and Chelsea Perehinec (Luca Farino); and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rose Marie McClure, on Aug. 29, 2007; two sons: William Jr. and Joseph; and all of his brothers and sisters. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He was a 1948 graduate of Cresson High School Class and served as class president. He worked for Bethlehem Steel and was a former member of Penn Cambria School Board and Cresson Borough Council. He was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson.

Bill enjoyed baseball, especially Little League. He started Little League Baseball in Sankertown. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and jogging.

A private viewing and funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of the family. Committal will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

The family suggest donations be made to Cambria Alliance Ambulance Service, 725 Second St., Cresson, PA 16630, in Bill’s memory.
