Barbara A. Beech, 73, Antis Township, died unexpectedly early Monday morning, Nov. 23, 2020, at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert and Rosalia (Stoehr) Heisler.
On May 14, 1965, she married Walter Leander Beech III at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2014.
Surviving are three children: Michael R. (Sandra), Stephanie J. Beech and Walter L. IV, all of Antis Township; six grandchildren: Brandon (Cassandra Jones) Beech, Justin Miller, Matthew (Shannon) Beech, Tyler (Krista) Beech, Daniel (Emily) Beech and Kayla (Eli) Colyer; and seven great-grandchildren: Kaylee Beech, Bowen Beech, Jaxson Miller, Brantly Beech, Adelynne Beech, Lydia Colyer and Carter Beech; three special sisters-in-law: Kathleen (Rick) Cassarly, Deborah Ball and Jennifer Watts; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Theresa, Missie and Scott.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brent M., on Jan. 8, 2006.
Barbara was a 1965 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. She was employed as a nurse's aide at Bellmeade Manor and then retired from Comfort Keepers, Altoona, in 2019.
She enjoyed fishing, gambling, flower gardening and shopping. She especially loved her dogs.
Barbara's greatest joy was spending time with her loving family. She was their rock and butterfly. Barbara was loved by all those who were blessed to know her and made a difference in their lives.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon at the church, the Rev. Alan Thomas as celebrant.
