Charles P. Alessi Sr., 71, of Altoona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Charles J. Alessi and Effie (Edmonson) Ralyea. He married Vicki Peery in 1972.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years; two daughters: Lisa Day and husband Randall in CO, Sarah O'Dea and husband William of Altoona; a son, Charles Jr. and fiancee Dani of Altoona; five grandchildren: Austin, Sophia, Isabella, Benjamin, and Kaitlyn; a step-sister, Marie Smith; and a step-brother John Smith.
He graduated from University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a BS in Psychology. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was an electrician for 20 years in the coal mines, then 20 years with Berwind-White, and was currently working as a driver for Blair Senior Services.
He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Chairman, Chief Sound Room Tech., Christian Education Committee, Financial Committee, former Sunday School Superintendent, and the Building Grounds Maintenance Committee.
Chuck enjoyed fishing, spending time with his buddies at their hunting camp in Potter County, and tinkering around with technology.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church, Altoona, where a celebration of life will immediately follow at 6 p.m. Pastor Dr. Gary G. Dull will be officiating. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
