Eleanor Altiero, 92, Altoona, passed away Monday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Albino and Jennie (Lindo) Troiano. On Sept. 18, 1948, she married the late Dominic D. Altiero, and they shared 61 years of marriage.
Eleanor is survived by her son, David D. Altiero (Michal Ludwig) of Altoona; her daughter, Deborah L. Black and husband, David; three grandsons: Kirk D. Black and wife, Melinda, of Mars, Eric D. Black and wife, Jody, of Altoona, and Adam D. Black and wife, Christi, of Hollidaysburg; six great-grandchildren: Graham, Kade, Jace, Lilah, Finn and Aspen Black; two step-great-grandchildren: Andrew and Addison; her sister-in-law, Victoria Hughes and husband, Orville, of Bellefonte; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by siblings: Michael and Joseph Troiano, Mary Jane DeStadio and Norma Maruca.
Eleanor attended Altoona High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
She was a lifelong homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, especially her Christmas cookies. In her younger years, Eleanor enjoyed walking, reading and crafts.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
