Joseph D. Ackerman Sr., 86, Altoona, died Friday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Hackensack, N.J., son of Joseph D. Ackerman and Ladorna Peterson. Surviving are nine children; two brothers; and one sister. He was preceded in death by three children. Joseph served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Anthony P. Scaglione Funeral Home, 1908 Seventh Ave., Altoona.
