Alice J. Mummert

She was born in Gettys­burg, daughter of the late Howard S. and Florence (Kensinger) Mummert.

Surviving are a very special nephew, Paul Mummert Sr. of Altoona, whom she raised as a son; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mummert of Duncansville; a brother-in-law, George Frederick of Altoona; many other nieces and nephews; and her special friends: Susan and Matt Bettwy of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Harry Mummert and John Mummert; four sisters: Barbara Sutch, Mary Frederick, Susan Swartz and Kathryn Cassanese; and a great-nephew, Joey Mummert.

Alice was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School.

She was a charter member of Altoona Bible Church, where she started and ran the nursery for many years and was involved with Pioneer Clubs.

She enjoyed painting, doing hand crafts and babysitting the many children in the Altoona Bible Church nursery.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona, and from

10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Altoona Bible Church, Pastor Stewart W. McClelland officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant United Church of Christ Cemetery, Henrietta. Arrangements are by E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona.

The family requests that memorial contributions in Alice’s memory be made to Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
