Darryl Ray Yeager

July 7, 1937 – March 25, 2018

Darryl Ray Yeager, 80, Antis Township, died Sunday afternoon at his home.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Howard “Pat” and Arlene (Carn) Yeager. In 1958, he married Carol G. Garner at Eighth Avenue Methodist Church, Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; three sons: Kenton Lee (Casey Sams) of Knoxville, Tenn., Bryan Todd (Theresa Ganley) of McConnellsburg and Aaron Quinn (Sonya Launi) of Altoona; a daughter, Dawn Elaine (Roy) Amrhein of Antis Township; four grandchildren: Roy Gene Amrhein, Aaron Tyler Mentzer, Brynn Carol and Jamison Quinn Yeager; a great-grandson, Benjamin Roy Amrhein; and a brother, Barry of Antis Township.

He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Gail and Fred LeCrone; and two nephews: Fred LeCrone Jr. and Terry Owens.

Darryl was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School and a Penn State graduate with degrees in electronics and vocational education. He was a teacher at Altoona Vocational-Technical School for 13 years and a service technician at J.C. Penney, Altoona. He was also the owner, designer and manufacturer of Easy to Love Wooden Toys for many years.

He served on the Northern Blair County Sewer Authority and served six years as Antis Township supervisor. He was a past president of Altoona Jaycees and a member and past officer of Pa. Guild of Craftsmen and Blair County Guild of Craftsmen. Darryl was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.

He enjoyed bowling, woodworking and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Robert Rupp officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. Arrangements are by Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood

The family suggests contributions in Darryl’s memory be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
