Sheldon C. “Shell” Schettig III, 65, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at his residence after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Cresson, son of the late Sheldon C. Schettig II and Othella Dishart.

Surviving are his fiancee, Peggy Armstrong of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Nicole (Matthew) Dunio of Altoona and Tiffany (Kelly) Gonzalez of Long Beach, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Nina, Giuliana and Olivia Dunio and Andilena Gonzalez; two brothers: Albert (Kim) Schettig of Seaville, N.J., and Bruce (Becky) Schettig of Lilly; and his ex-wife, Nancy Schettig of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a girlfriend, Marsha Taylor.

Shell was a 1971 graduate of Penn Cambria High School. For more than 30 years, he worked as a barber for the Mall Barber Shop, and he was the owner of Shell’s Barber Shop for eight years before retiring in 2015.

In his youth, he was an amazing skier and spent a great deal of time on the slopes. He loved spending time with his dog, Precious.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
