Arthur B. Staines Jr.

Arthur B. Staines Jr., 83, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday evening at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Arthur B. and Wilda R. (Baker) Staines Sr. On June 9, 1967, he married Gloria A. Grove in Virginia.

Surviving are his wife; a stepson, Paul of Hollidaysburg; two stepdaughters: Cindy Armour (Ken) of Steelton and Terri of Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchil­dren; two brothers: William W. in Arizona and Dennis of Lakemont; and two sisters: Nancy L. Steinbrunner of Hollidaysburg and Wanda S. Snowberger in Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary J. Staines; and sister, Lois Ritchey.

Arthur was an U.S. Air Force and Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. He retired as a driver for Furrer Beverage.

At Arthur’s request, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg.
