Robert David Sill, 80, Washington Crossing, Pa., and Naples, Fla., passed away Monday, surrounded by his close-knit family in his Washington Crossing Home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late David Calvin and Edna Mae (McConahy) Sill.
After sharing 60 years together, Bob was predeceased in 2009 by his loving wife, Eileen Sill. He is survived by his four children and their families: Cindy Allen and husband, Curt, of Moorestown, N.J., Joy Sill-Hopkins and husband, Doug Hopkins, and Bob Sill Jr. and wife, Julie, all of Newtown, and Karen Wilkinson and husband, Tom, of Jamison. Known fondly as Pop Pop, Bob is survived by his 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. After four years of marriage, Bob is survived by his second wife, Susan Sill, and her two daughters, Jennifer and Bethany Leonard of Factoryville. Together they enjoyed traveling during his final years. Bob also is survived by his three sisters: Corinne Sinisi (the late Dan) and Mary Martier of Lititz and Nancy Walker and husband, Scotty, of Justus.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Sill.
Bob was known as an outgoing, generous friend to many.
He and Eileen, maintained strong ties with both of their alma maters, Altoona High School and Juniata College. Together they founded the Bob and Eileen Sill Entrepreneurial Center in Huntingdon. One of their dream legacies was to support and encourage small business ownership.
Known for his skill and love of sports, Bob was inducted into Juniata College’s Football Hall of Fame and the college recently retired the No. 12 in Bob’s honor. He shared this acknowledgement with his entire Tangerine Bowl Team of 1956. It was heartwarming to Bob to witness each of his 10 grandchildren wearing No. 12 on their team jerseys.
Bob enjoyed 37 years of building a successful State Farm Insurance Agency in Fallsington. He and Eileen raised their four children in Bucks County, each attending Pennsbury High School where Bob remained very passionate in support of Pennsbury athletics.
For their parents, Bob and his brother Jack built “Sills Family Campground” in Adamstown, and Bob and Eileen and family enjoyably shared each summer in Sea Isle City, N.J.
Bob will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed. His days were naturally focused on family and making the world a better place. Bob was a true Christian whose values were strongly displayed from the depths of his heart and soul. He was a one of a kind inspiration to all who knew him. We will never be the same as we were before this loss but are forever so much better for having had someone so great to lose. Bob will be forever loved.
