Elizabeth R. Wineland

Elizabeth R. Wineland, 92, a resident at ManorCare Home – Camp Hill, formerly of Martinsburg, died Tuesday morning at the home after a brief illness.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Alfred and Otta (Albright) Hudson. She married Foster F. Wineland on April 17, 1945, and he died in 1983.

Surviving are two daughters: Janice E. May of East Freedom and Joyce E. Butler and husband, James, of Tyrone; four grandchildren: Matthew B. May and wife, Jen, of East Freedom, Mason B. May and wife, Jill, of Martinsburg, Emily (Butler) Oakes and husband, Joe, of Tyrone and Emily (Butler) Coffey and husband, Donny, of Tyrone; eight great-grandchildren: Meghan May, Mattie May, Lucy May, Tomi May, Wyatt May, Ellie Oakes, Owen Oakes and Cameron Coffey; a sister, Linda Brumbaugh of Camp Hill; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ben L. May.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Hudson.

Elizabeth was a 1939 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She retired as a bookkeeper from Mierley Motors, Altoona, and had previously worked as bookkeeper at several other local car dealerships.

Elizabeth was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren and was attending Bible Baptist Church, Camp Hill. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and spending time with all her friends at ManorCare Home – Camp Hill. She was a previous member of the Martinsburg Civic Club and the North Woodbury Grange.

Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. by Pastor Ron Berrus. Interment will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.

Contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be given to ManorCare Home Camp Hill or the Bible Baptist Church, Camp Hill.
