The following churches have announced Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter services:
– Zion Lutheran, 500 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg, will host a 7 p.m. Good Friday service; 6 p.m. Holy Saturday service; and 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Easter Sunday services.
– The Geeseytown-Newry Lutheran Parish will host Good Friday services at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Geeseytown Lutheran Church, 462 Route 22, Hollidaysburg.
– Easter Sunday Worship will begin with a Sunrise Service with Holy Communion at Geeseytown Lutheran Church at 6:30 a.m., followed by breakfast, and Easter morning worship with Holy Communion at 9 a.m. at Newry Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend.
The Geeseytown-Newry Lutheran Parish is a member of the Allegheny Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
– Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 Fifth Ave., Altoona, will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 3 featuring the "7 last sayings." A Resurrection Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. April 5 with a breakfast to follow. The Rev. Carla Beckton will deliver the message.
Easter Sunday morning services will be held at 10:45 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Moore.
– Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Christ Community UMC, 5715 Roselawn Ave., Altoona.
– Memorial Church of the Brethren, 210 N. Wall St., Martinsburg, will hold Easter Sunday services, April 5. A Son-Rise service will be held at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast. The adult and children's Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the traditional Easter service at 10:30 a.m.
– Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. Fourth St., Altoona, will hold a Good Friday crosswalk beginning at 6:30 a.m. There will be a sacrificial breakfast after the crosswalk at the Wehnwood UMC. LuAnne Baker will portray The Samaritan Woman after the breakfast.
– An evening service will be held at Tipton United Methodist, 219 Spruce St., Tyrone, at 7 p.m. Good Friday.
– Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. Fourth St., Altoona, will celebrate the resurrection Easter Sunday with three services: 7 a.m. sunrise, 9 a.m. praise worship and 11 a.m. traditional worship.
– Wehnwood UMC will host a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday and a 10 a.m. Easter service.
– Second Avenue Global Methodist Church, 130 Second Ave., Altoona, will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.; Easter Sunday service at 7 a.m. and a contemporary Easter service at 9:30 a.m.
– Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 28th Street and Union Avenue, will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. An Easter sunrise service is slated for 7 a.m. A breakfast of pancakes and sausage, along with carry-in items, will be served immediately after the sunrise service.
Easter Sunday services include Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m.
– Juniata Church of the Brethren, North Ninth Avenue and Third Street, will host an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Eric Fether and music by Esther Wharton. Breakfast will be served after the service.
The 9:30 a.m. Sunday school hour for all ages will focus on the Gospel of John chapter 20 with Len Alwine and John Balzano. The theme for the 10:30 a.m. service is "Joy in the Morning." Soloist Donna Huber will present the medley "Christ Arose." The Rev. Robert Wharton will have a message, "The Third Day Miracle," based on 1 Corinthians 15:4.
– St. John's Reformed Church of Loysburg will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 3, featuring the adult choir in an Easter cantata directed by Barb Thomas.
The church also will hold a sunrise service at 8 a.m. Easter morning in the church pavilion with special music by the youth choir and a message by Elder Chris Kurtz. That will be followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall, Easter worship with Holy Communion at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday School for all ages at 10:45 a.m.
– St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 335 Locust St., Johnstown, will hold in-person and Zoom services including Good Friday with Stations of the Cross at noon; Holy Saturday liturgy at 9 a.m. and Easter Sunday at 10 a.m.
