Pastor to be installed
The Rev. Hilary Livingston will be installed as the new pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Ave., Altoona.
The installation service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at the church. There will be light refreshments after the service.
Livingston, who started at the church on Sept. 22, is an ordained Teaching Elder (Minister of Word and Sacrament) in the Presbyterian Church. She is originally from the South Hills of Pittsburgh, and has previously served churches in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Veterans, military honored
The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament will honor veterans and current members of the military during the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Nov. 10. A luncheon will be served in the cathedral hall following the Mass. To make a reservation for the luncheon, call the office at 814-944-4603.
Concert offered
Songs Without Words will be presented by the Wehnwood String Ensemble at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 803 St. Augustine Road, Dysart.
Night of worship planned
Holy Spirit Ministry will hold a night of worship with eucharistic adoration with Father Alan Thomas at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at St. Michael Church, Hollidaysburg. There will be praise and worship music. A prayer ministry will conclude the evening.
Church hosts Chiz Rider concert
Chiz Rider will present a concert at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at Jaggard First United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. Church services are also livestreamed Sunday mornings on the church's Facebook page.
Choir to perform
The Chi Rho Singers will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Wehnwood United Methodist Church.
This choir of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church includes about 25 active and retired pastors under the direction of the Rev. James Hollister and the Rev. Richard Smith.
Various styles of sacred music, both contemporary and traditional, will be presented. Several instruments are used for accompanying the choir. The audience will be invited to join the choir in a few selections. The concert is free; an offering will be accepted.
Lunch offered
Fourth Street Church of God, Fourth Street and 21th Avenue, Altoona, will service lunch from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. The menu includes waffles with turkey gravy, applesauce, cupcakes and drinks. All are welcome to eat in or take out.
Spaghetti dinner available
A spaghetti dinner will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Raystown Brethren Church, 129 Winterberry Lane, Saxton. The dinner is being hosted by the Women's Missionary Society; cost is by donation.
The meal includes spaghetti with homemade meatballs, salad bar, garlic toast, dessert and beverage. The meal is available for eat in or take out.
Election day prayer meeting set
Faith Baptist Church of Altoona will host an election day prayer meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the church, 315 40th St., Altoona. City Councilman and Pastor Dave Butterbaugh will be the speaker, and the prayer meeting will include the singing of patriotic hymns and a time of prayer for the nation. Everyone is invited.

Holiday boutique planned
A holiday boutique will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2700 Broad Ave., Altoona. The church has elevator access.
The pancake and sausage breakfast will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Photos with Santa will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Paula Binus sweet rolls will be available again this year. The event features collectibles, gifts, Sister Basil's Lollipops, books, creative crafts, Bake Shoppe, jewelry, a kids carnival, prize-a-rama, baskets and more.
Splash Nights continue
The Well Ministry Center will host Splash Nights the second Monday of each month. There will be a meal, games, crafts, songs and a message of hope. Spaghetti dinner offered
St. Mary's Christian Mother's LCBA 1290 will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 9. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased in advance. The dinner is take-out only and can be picked up at St. Mary's Memorial Hall, 1420 Fourth Ave., Altoona, between 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Pancake brunch to be served
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Therese of The Child Jesus Conference, will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake brunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in Father Kelly Hall, 25th Avenue and Fifth Street, Altoona.
Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and younger. The meal includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, along with two sausages, coffee, tea and juice. A gluten free option is available.
In addition, there will also be two gift card board raffles valued and a lottery tree raffle. Proceeds will benefit those in need in the community.
Pro-Life Rosary to be recited
Christian Mothers will recite the pro-life rosary Thursdays after the noon mass at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. The group meets in front of the Blessed Mother Chapel.
