FBI chief defends hiring policy changes

WASHINGTON -- FBI Director Kash Patel defended Tuesday a recent policy change to allow some applicants who have engaged in prostitution and bestiality to be considered for employment.

The subject arose during a fiery Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in which Patel clashed with Democrats over his firing of agents who participated in investigations of President Donald Trump.

Baptist church marks bombing anniversary

BIRMINGHAM -- Sixty-three years ago, dynamite planted by Ku Klux Klan members exploded through the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, killing four girls as they prepared for Sunday services.

Hundreds of people filled the church on Tuesday on the 63rd anniversary of the bombing.

Police issue alert after seventh person dead

JOHANNESBURG -- A woman's body was found on Tuesday in the same area east of Johannesburg in South Africa where the discovery of several other victims in the past two months has sparked fear of a potential serial killer at large and led to a public warning by the police.

According to South African authorities, the cases appear to be linked, though they did not confirm whether they are the work of the same killer.

Kim Kardashian gets 1 euro in 2016 robbery

SAINT-ETIENNE -- A Paris court on Tuesday awarded 1 euro to Kim Kardashian for having been the victim of an armed robbery in the French capital in 2016, the amount of compensation she had asked for, according to a lawyer involved in the case.

Kardashian has sought to move on since the court last year found eight people guilty for their roles in what the celebrity described as "the most terrifying experience of my life."
