James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center to host housing rights event

The Van Zandt VA Medical Center, in collaboration with the Fair Housing Law Center and Summit Legal Aid, will host an educational event aimed at empowering veterans and their caregivers with the latest information on housing rights and protections under the Fair Housing Act. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center, second floor mini auditorium, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. Although Cambria County has celebrated America’s semiquincentennial with several events throughout the year, the headlining event — a July 4 parade and ceremony in Ebensburg Borough — is quickly approaching. IRVING, Texas — Nexstar Media Group Inc. announced that the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation is making a $5,000 contribution to a local organization as part of the company’s “30 Days of Giving” initiative, a monthlong program recognizing and supporting nonprofit and charitable organizations serving communities across Nexstar’s nationwide footprint. HUNTINGDON — According to Lonnie Smith Jr., Huntingdon County’s America250PA adviser, Huntingdon County has a list of events celebrating America’s semiquincentennial all year long.
