HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Brooklyn, N.Y., man who was wanted by Altoona police in relation to three drug-related cases pleaded guilty Thursday afternoon to 10 felony counts in exchange for a state prison sentence of two to 10 years.

Tyreese Lavern McCants, 39, pleaded guilty to four felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, three felony counts each of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility and four misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance across his three separate but related cases.

McCants appeared alongside defense attorney Herbert McDuffy Jr., who requested sentencing be deferred so concerns regarding McCants's credit for time served calculation could be addressed. Judge Jackie Atherton Bernard granted the request and scheduled McCants for sentencing at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in courtroom three of the Blair County Courthouse.

In addition to the two to 10 years' incarceration, Bernard is expected to order McCants to pay an extradition fee of $3,825, $226 to the state police crime lab in Greensburg, undergo drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and complete cognitive behavioral therapy and critical thinking courses.

McCants was captured by New York police in June 2024 and extradited to Blair County on drug charges. McCants was listed as one of the Altoona Police Department's "Most Wanted" and faces additional drug charges through the NYPD, the police report states.
