Claysburg-Kimmel High School kicked off its annual mentorship program Friday, which offers students career advice from community leaders.
This fall marks the third year for Claysburg-Kimmel's "Mentorship for Success" program introduced by Claysburg Education Foundation founding member Rich Allison.
Allison shared his career stories with 23 district high school juniors and seniors at Barney Wood Golf Course in Duncansville, alongside business leaders such as NPC owner and chairman Mark Barnhart, New Pig chairman and co-founder Ben Stapelfeld and former district business teacher Steve Walter.
During the Q&A session, local mentors spoke about building financial independence, leadership and community involvement and taking risks and learning from failure.
Student takeaways include incorporating good habits, building strong relationships and developing a willingness to pursue opportunities.
Students will tour local businesses in surrounding counties during future mentorship sessions.
