A Virginia homicide suspect was arrested after a pursuit and "high-risk" traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bedford County.
State police on Tuesday received an alert that Roger Paul Allen Bradford, 60, was wanted in Virginia in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife that occurred earlier that day.
Police were told Bradford was traveling westbound on the turnpike in a black Kia Sportage with a Florida registration. State police from the Everett barracks were positioned at mile marker 154.2 and when Bradford passed their location, troopers pursued the vehicle, initiating a traffic stop in Snake Spring Township.
Bradford was taken into custody without incident, the report states.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kevin Diehl on a charge of arrest prior to requisition, based on the arrest warrant from Loudoun County, Virginia.
According to the Loudoun Times-Mirror, real estate agent Lisa E. Bradford, 54, was fatally shot inside her Aldie-area home Tuesday morning.
The newspaper reported that Loudoun County Sheriff Michael L. Chapman said a relative called the Sheriff's Office about 12:10 p.m. to report that Roger Bradford called to say he killed his wife.
Deputies responded to the home to find Lisa Bradford dead, the report states.
Chapman said Roger Bradford fled the scene in a rental car and was arrested in Bedford.
Bradford will be charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is in the Bedford County Correctional Facility awaiting extradition to Virginia.
While Bradford is believed to have used a pistol, Chapman said a weapon has not yet been recovered.
No one else was home at the time of the homicide, he said, noting the couple have three children: two teenagers and one in college.
The investigation remains ongoing.
