A New Enterprise woman who broke into her former boyfriend's Clearfield home and took a firearm was sentenced Tuesday to county prison by President Judge Paul E. Cherry, according to a report by The Progress.
Danyel Nicole Brallier, 51, pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass and carrying a firearm without a license, along with misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
Cherry sentenced Brallier to 12 months minus two days to two years minus two days, followed by three years of concurrent probation. She also was fined $650 plus court costs and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and counseling. Brallier must have no contact with the victim and is prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substances or entering bars.
Brallier will serve her sentence in the Blair County Prison, where she is expected to get on work release and keep her job in Altoona.
Brallier's attorney, Anthony Kattouf of Hollidaysburg, said she had experienced significant mental health problems at the time of the incident, but has since entered counseling, takes medication and has full-time employment.
Brallier apologized in court, saying she had a "mental break" after the relationship ended and became obsessed with getting her former boyfriend back.
The victim testified that because of the incident, he has moved, installed surveillance cameras and checks his home when he returns to make sure no one is inside. He ultimately agreed with the plea agreement.
According to police, Brallier went to the victim's Smith Street home Sept. 3, 2025, and entered through a back door. The victim later discovered his 9mm pistol was missing. Brallier left the residence but then returned. Police found her sitting on the porch and holding the firearm. A round was lodged in the slide and another was in the chamber, the report states.
Brallier told police she took the gun because she did not believe the victim would talk to her. She said she had no intention of hurting him.
Cherry ordered Brallier to report to Blair County Prison on Sept. 22 and pay six months of incarceration costs in advance.
