Johnstown Inclined Plane to reopen
Free rides available to all passengers for 30 days

The historic Johnstown Inclined Plane will officially return to passenger service on Friday, Sept. 4, following an extensive rehabilitation project focused on preserving the iconic landmark while meeting modern engineering and safety standards.
Operated by CamTran, the Inclined Plane has served the Johnstown community for more than
130 years and remains one of the region's most recognizable attractions.
To celebrate its return, all riders can enjoy free rides for 30 days. At the end of the free period, riders aged 65 and older will continue to ride free with proof of age.
During the initial reopening period, the Inclined Plane will operate:
– Thursdays: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
– Fridays: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
– Saturdays: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
– Sundays: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Inclined Plane will also operate on select holidays, including from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Labor Day Monday.
The reopening follows years of planning, construction, testing and regulatory review, with CamTran emphasizing safety and reliability throughout the rehabilitation.
