Altoona woman gets probation in burglary case pending since 2020
Sentence to run concurrent with incarceration for fiery crash

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The city woman sentenced in May to three to 15 years' incarceration for causing a fiery crash was given an additional five years' probation Monday in a burglary case that has been pending since 2020.
Breanna Mae Lord, 26, was charged with single felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass, single misdemeanor counts of simple assault and criminal mischief and four summary charges. She is currently being housed at SCI Muncy.
Lord appeared via video for the plea and sentencing hearing in front of President Judge Wade A. Kagarise, during which she pleaded guilty to the single felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass.
In addition to five years' probation, which will run concurrently to her existing sentence of three to 15 years' incarceration, pay the cost of prosecution and $200 in fines.
The case was brought against Lord after police reported that she kicked in the door to a home along the 700 block of North Fourth Avenue and assaulted two people. The victim told police she had been at Lord's home earlier in the evening and felt uncomfortable, so she had gone home, the report states.
After the victim walked outside to give Lord her belongings, Lord got in her vehicle and the victim went back inside. The victim said she heard banging on the door and could see Lord outside screaming, so a male in the house went to the door and tried to hold it shut. Police said Lord kicked in the door and started hitting the woman and the man, breaking both of their glasses. Lord bit the woman's hands multiple times and continued to "flail around her," the report states.
Police said the victim had red marks on her nose, both sides of her face were swollen and she had a swollen lip that was bleeding.
Officers tracked Lord down at her residence along the 1100 block of North Fourth Avenue, where she admitted there had been an altercation. Police reported smelling alcohol on her breath.
That case was held in abeyance following the fiery vehicle crash on May 2, 2021, in which Lord drove into a building along the 700 block of 29th Street at a high rate of speed, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. The crash caused "very serious injuries" to Lord and her passenger.
Lord was sentenced in that case in May to 40 to 180 months in a state correctional institution after pleading no contest in April to all 13 charges against her, including single felony counts of aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, single misdemeanor counts of unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI. She also pleaded no contest to six summary traffic violations.
Kagarise had also ordered Lord to pay $167,000 in restitution to the victim of the crash, pay about $1,800 in fines and complete a highway safety program.
