State police seek info in fatal Bedford County crash

State police are seeking information related to a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Bedford County on Wednesday morning.

According to a news release, police were dispatched about 8:51 a.m. to Hyndman Road, Harrison Township, where Joseph Williams, 65, was killed when an unknown vehicle struck the back tire of Williams' bicycle. Williams was thrown from the bike and landed in a nearby yard, police reported.

The striking vehicle fled the scene traveling north on Hyndman Road (Route 96).

Police said the evidence gathered at the scene indicates the striking vehicle was a burgundy/maroon-colored Ford. The vehicle will have damage to the passenger side headlight area and passenger side mirror, police reported.
