Drivers can anticipate delays -- up to 15 minutes in length -- on Railroad Street south of Ehrenfeld in Croyle Township and Munster Road in Portage Borough as a resurfacing project gets underway. A temporary traffic signal near Beyers Road in Croyle Township is restricting traffic to a single lane. The paving project will continue through Sept. 24, PennDOT stated in a news release.
Quaker Sales Inc., Johnstown, is the lead contractor for the $6.7 million project, which includes resurfacing, drainage maintenance, and guide rail upgrades over six miles of Railroad Street and Portage Street between Ehrenfeld, Summerhill, Wilmore and Portage boroughs, across Croyle, Summerhill and Portage townships in Cambria County.
During the 2027 construction season, the project will include the closing of Portage Street in Wilmore, and a five-day, 10.5-mile detour using Railroad Street, Route 219, Locust Street, and Mill Road/Fairview Avenue/Springside Avenue. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2027.
