Norfolk Southern officials confirmed Wednesday morning that the clean-up of a 12 railcar derailment along Altoona's Horseshoe Curve was "essentially complete."

Senior communications manager Kasandra Jenkins wrote in an email that all railcars were back on the tracks as of 8:30 a.m., with all tracks "expected to be back in service" by Wednesday afternoon.

The cause of the derailment, the third such incident this year, remains under investigation. Norfolk Southern reported no injuries and that hazardous materials were not present on any of the derailed cars.

The video live feed broadcast by the YouTube channel Virtual Railfan showed both tracks operational as of Wednesday evening.
