Eltman sentenced to 18-36 more months for child sexual abuse

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Saxton man already serving a sentence in Bedford on child sexual abuse charges was sentenced Friday to an additional 18 to 36 months' imprisonment after pleading guilty to similar charges in Blair County court.
John William Eltman II, 58, initially faced two felony counts each of unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors, as well as two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
As a part of his plea deal, Eltman pleaded guilty to a felony count of unlawful contact with a minor and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age in exchange for a state prison sentence of 1.5 to 3 years.
The sentence, handed down by Judge Louis C. Schmitt Jr., is to run concurrent to Eltman's 9.5-to-20-year sentence from Bedford County.
Chief Public Defender Julia Burke told Schmitt that Eltman had already been determined to be a sexually violent predator by the state Sexual Offenders Assessment Board and was a Tier III offender under Megan's Law.
When given the opportunity to speak, Eltman, who appeared in court via Zoom, opted to remain silent.
Charges were filed in Blair County in late December 2024 after a 13-year-old girl told her therapist that she had been touched sexually by Eltman. The girl's father then contacted state police when he learned of the incident.
Eltman was sentenced in Bedford County court in early May 2025 after pleading guilty to a felony count of rape in January 2025.
In that case, Eltman initially faced four felony counts each of rape and statutory sexual assault, 12 sexually related felony counts involving a minor, six felony counts of endangering the welfare of children, two felony counts each of sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, one felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and six misdemeanor counts of indecent assault.
The charges were brought after the victim, then 15 years old, told Bedford County Children & Youth Services in August 2021 that Eltman had sexual intercourse with her beginning when she was 13 years old.
The victim detailed six incidents, including one at a South Woodbury Township residence in March 2021, where she said Eltman gave her $100 so she wouldn't tell anyone.
