Ahern arraigned for 2025 incident that badly injured oncoming driver

A Martinsburg man is accused of causing a vehicle crash after allegedly driving over 90 mph in a 35 mph zone, resulting in life-threatening injuries for another driver.
Draven Daniel Ahern, 22, was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on a felony count of aggravated assault by vehicle, a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person and three summary traffic offenses. He remains free on unsecured $75,000 bail.
The police report states that probable cause for Ahern's arrest arose from a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sept. 21, 2025, along SR 866 in North Woodbury Township, Blair County. A completed crash reconstruction determined the wreck was caused by Ahern, driving a white Dodge Dart in excess of 90 mph in a posted 35 mph zone, who struck a red Nissan Altima head-on as its driver was trying to make a left turn onto SR 2001. The Dart shoved the Altima backward into a building and the Dart became partially airborne as it caught on fire before coming to a rest outside the intersection.
State police at Hollidaysburg noted the Altima had sustained major damage to its front and back ends, while the Dart sustained major damage to its front end. The victim was unable to be interviewed due to numerous, serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to Nason Hospital before being flown to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Ahern is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 10 in front of Blattenberger.
