HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Blair County leaders are encouraging local residents to consider serving on a county authority, board or commission/committee.
"We like to welcome new faces and new ideas to our boards and commissions," Commissioner Amy Webster said at Thursday's weekly commissioners meeting when directing residents to complete a talent bank application on the county's website, www.blairco.org.
Commissioners typically consider appointments to various boards at the beginning and end of a calendar year, but they also fill vacancies on an as-needed basis.
Information on the county's website indicates that talent bank applications remain on file for two years, unless an appointment is made.
As listed on the website, commissioners are responsible for making appointments to the following:
Blair County Airport Authority; Blair County Convention Center and Sports Facilities Authority; Blair County General Authority; Blair County Hospital Authority; Blair County Industrial Development Authority; Blair County Redevelopment and Housing Authority; Blair County Trail, Park and Recreation Authority; Blair County Affordable Housing Trust Fund Advisory Board; Blair County Agricultural Land Preservation Board; Blair County Children & Youth Advisory Board; Blair County Conservation District Board; Fort Roberdeau Association Board; Blair County Health Choices Board; Blair County Library Board; Blair County Social Services Advisory Board; Blair County Opioid Settlement Committee; Blair County Planning Commission.
The county's website list also includes the historic preservation committee, but Webster and fellow commissioners Dave Kessling and Laura Burke voted in April to dissolve that committee.
