Fire damages local deli

An Ashville business was severely damaged by fire early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were dispatched to Captain Ron's Deli, at 1662 Liberty St., about 2:38 a.m. for a working structure fire with entrapment, according to a post on the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company's Facebook page.
Crews from Ashville, Gallitzin, Loretto and Cresson, with a Rapid Intervention Team from Portage, responded to the scene, along with EMS crews from Cresson and Carrolltown.
Firefighters entered the structure to find "a deep-seated fire" in the ceiling above the kitchen area, the post states.
The fire began to run the length of the building in the attic space and, when signs of sagging were seen at the roof line, an evacuation of the structure was made.
Minutes later, a portion of the roof and the entire wooden ceiling collapsed into the building, according to the post.
Three additional engines and a truck -- from Patton, Coalport, Newburg and Carrolltown -- were dispatched to provide additional aid as firefighters continued to attack the fire from the exterior.
The deli is owned by Ron Slovikosky of Ashville.
No one was injured, according to a post on the deli's Facebook page.
